I was approached by author and family friend Angela DiCicco to design a book cover for her non-fiction book. Her book chronicles the journey she and her husband went on after her husband experienced a tragic accident leaving him paralyzed.

Angela came to me with very few visual references, but knew that she wanted the imagery to include the beaches they loved to visit together and show footprints in the sand changing into wheelchair tracks. I researched many different book cover styles, sourced beach imagery to inspire the illustrations and collages, and dove deep into the Amazon Publishing requirements needed for self-publishing.

With a limited budget, I could only offer two initial visual directions. The first was deemed “too much like a rom-com,” but the second design was what ultimately became the final cover.
