  • FotoDC
I began my internship at FotoDC in September 2011. I was brought onto the small staff to help with graphic design by creating and editing print and web content for their November FotoWeekDC Festival. The FotoWeekDC Festival is a week-long celebration of all things photography, and I helped created signage and captions for our main gallery location. As a part of a staff of only six, I was also responsible for managing large-scale events, performing administrative tasks, coordinating volunteers, and running the FotoDC social media. I worked closely with their contracted graphic designer, proofing designs, updating with hi-res images, typesetting, and getting items to the printers.

These are some examples of the signage and printed materials I helped produce during my time with FotoDC. Marnie Kenney was the primary designer.

  • Breast in Show Promo Materials
Breast in Show is an original musical about breast cancer created from interviews and books of people's actual experiences. The goal of the show is to spread the message that, "We can, We must and We will eradicate Breast Cancer in our lifetime."

I was brought on initially by the executive producer, Eileen Mitchard, to produce a one-off flyer postcard. The production team liked what I produced so much that they returned for my help with a web ad, poster, and cd album artwork. As the daughter of a breast cancer survivor it was an honor and a joy to work with these women as they worked to produce this meaningful musical.

The Breast in Show logo was created by Ethel Kessler of the Kessler Design Group.

  • Page Ahead Project
The College Capstone project is an integration of the Champlain College Core curriculum with the Graphic Design and Digital Media program. The project was to choose an issue that affects a group with limited resources and to create design solutions to help solve that issue.

For my College Capstone I chose to address the issue of underprivileged children not having access to books at home and therefore being more likely to have literacy problems. I decided to use a pre-existing program called “Page Ahead”, which has been very successful in Washington State, and re-brand it and bring it to Vermont.

The main audiences are educators, parents, and children ages 0 to 12.

  • Evergreen Solar Re-Branding
This project is a fictional rebranding of the real solar company named “Evergreen Solar” which was developed in Fall 2010.

The object of the project was to rebrand Evergreen Solar in a way that I thought showed the company’s mission better and would draw in businesses and homeowners interested in switching to green energy options such as solar power.

  • Re-design of the Time Quartet by Madeleine L'Engle
The assignment was to redesign an existing book cover. Instead, I chose to redesign Madeleine L’Engle’s Time Quartet series in a box set. This series consists of A Wrinkle in Time, A Wind in the Door, Many Waters, and A Swiftly Tilting Planet.

My intent behind my redesign is to extend the reader audience beyond young adults to also draw in adults. I reduced the main ideas of each book to a simple line drawing, referencing mathematical diagrams since these are sci-fi books. The minimal, abstract artwork is meant to draw in an adult audience, but I chose bright, solid blocks of color to continue to attract the young adult readers. I used yellow for the artwork and text for all four books and the box to create an eye catching motif that unites the design.

  • Melvin Gin
The brand is based on a fictional explorer named Melvin Goodwick who traveled the world drinking his own particular gin. Now the gin is being released for other adventurers to enjoy.

This logo was designed to indicate the idea of sailing towards the horizon and the tagline for the brand is “Take time to explore; and bring some gin.”

Melvin Gin is a fictional brand that I developed for a class I took in Fall 2010.
